Kumi’s Critique for Assignment 1

The sources are missing at the end of each definition!

GPS:
GPS is the system of 24 satellites...I suggest putting in how one gets their location and/or how accurate they can be (i.e. longitude and latitude, height within one meter's accuracy).

DMCA:
I think the definition is a good, brief explanation for it. Maybe you could put in when it went into effect and how the liability of Online Providers of copyright infringement is lowered (Wiki).

Clickthrough rate:
I think your definition doesn't get the real part of the meaning. "Clickthrough" is when someone clicks on a banner ad on a site they are visiting and is transported to the site for whatever product or service the ad was for. "Clickthrough rate" is the number of people that went to the site via the ad, so if 12% of the people who went to the first site click on the ad, the clickthrough rate is 12%. A better way to measure the effectiveness of the ad would be to see how many people who went through that purchased the product or service and how much was made (Newton's Telecom Dictionary, 19th edition).

Codec:
I think some more could be said about this term. It converts audio signals at one end of, say, a telephone, from analog form to digital form, sends it through, then converts them back to analog so that one can hear and understand the other person (Newton's...).

Blue box:
This definition looks pretty good, except that nowadays, blue boxes no longer work because ways to get around it has been developed. :) Also, it is interesting to know how it got its name and how one uses it (Newton's...).

Compression:
You might want to mention that different compression techniques results in different quality; some compress image data without removing detail or color, others compress by removing detail (Newton's...).

Dancing Frog:
Good definition; I haven't heard of this term before and I find it interesting to note that it's name came from the WB's frog.

Mirror:
The definition sounds pretty good; the mirror also reduces transmission to a file by archiving it (Newton's...).

Browser:
I think the definition is overall good, though I might suggest mentioning that the Browser moves a copy of the document on the Web to the computer (Newton's...).
